Mango Festivals in Pakistan
Pakistan hosts several mango festivals during the season that are worth planning your visit around:
- Multan Mango Festival (July): The biggest mango celebration in Punjab. Features mango eating competitions, variety exhibitions displaying 50+ types, cultural performances, and stalls from local orchards. Usually held at the Multan Arts Council or a major venue.
- International Mango Festival Mirpur Khas (June-July): Organized by Sindh Agriculture Department, this festival showcases Sindhri and other Sindhi varieties. Includes orchard visits, farmer talks, and export quality demonstrations.
- Islamabad Mango Festival (July): For those who cannot travel to Multan or Sindh, Islamabad hosts its own mango exhibition where farms from across Pakistan display their best fruit. A great way to taste multiple varieties in one place.
- Rahim Yar Khan Mango Mela (July): A smaller, more intimate festival focused on the unique varieties grown in the Rahim Yar Khan region.
What to Expect at a Mango Orchard Visit
A typical orchard visit at MMA Farms includes:
- Welcome and orientation: A brief overview of the farm, its history, and the varieties grown
- Orchard walk: Walk through the mango trees, see different varieties at various stages of ripening, and learn about grafting, pruning, and organic pest management
- Harvesting experience: During peak season, visitors can participate in picking mangoes from the trees using traditional long-handled hooks (dang)
- Tasting session: The highlight of the visit — taste 5-7 varieties side by side and learn to identify each by flavor, texture, and aroma
- Packing demonstration: See how mangoes are graded, wrapped, and packed for domestic delivery and international export
- Take-home box: Most visitors leave with a box of freshly picked mangoes (available for purchase)
Best Time to Visit

Planning Your Mango Tour
For visitors coming from major cities:
- From Lahore: 5-6 hours drive to Multan via M-2 Motorway. Consider an overnight stay.
- From Karachi: 1-hour flight to Multan, or 4-5 hours drive to Mirpur Khas orchards.
- From Islamabad: 6-7 hours drive or 1-hour flight to Multan.
- Overseas visitors: Fly into Multan International Airport (MUX) which has connections from major Pakistani cities and some international routes.
We recommend combining your orchard visit with exploring Multan's historical sites — the Shrine of Shah Rukn-e-Alam, Multan Fort, and the famous Multani bazaars are all within the city. This way, your trip becomes a cultural and culinary experience.
